Book of unsolved problems

The following book is available:

Unsolved Problems on Mathematics for the 21st Century

Please add problems from this book to Open Problem Garden.

Second tier problems

There should be option for a user to show also second tier problems. That is a user should have the option to view second tier problems alongside with normal problems, without going to "more/Second tier problems". Please add it in the next version of OPG.

Second tier and author index

I suggest to show all (even second tier) problems in the list of problems of a given author.

Some open problems from the Web

Look at the problems at http://homepages.cwi.nl/~lex/files/spqc.pdf Probably they could be added to Open Problem Garden.

Access denied (second tier problems)

When I click to a second tier problem (at http://garden.irmacs.sfu.ca/?q=view/tier2) I get "Access denied. You are not authorized to access this page." message.

SPAM

I have marked several comments as SPAM (clicking "mark as spam" under these comments). To get rid of SPAM I suggest to allow comments only from registered users.

Should show whether problem is solved

The list of problems by author (see this example) should show which of these problems are solved. The problem Set of connected components of a filter is solved but there are no indication of this in the list of problems.

Year of publication of a problem

I suggest to add new field, the year when the problem was first published. (If the exact year is unknown then give the first year for which is known that that year problem was published.) This will help to distinguish old long standing problems from new ones which have yet not given due attention. Somebody may want to look for new problems as probably simpler problems, so that he could try to solve them.

PlanetMath and linking

Why there are a special syntax for links to Wikipedia (like \Def[graph]{graph theory}), but there are no special syntax for links to PlanetMath (http://planetmath.org). Sometimes is better an entry in one or the other of these two competing encyclopedias for mathematics. Please add s syntax for links to PlanetMath (just like as it exists for Wikipedia). Also change at http://garden.irmacs.sfu.ca/?q=purpose "frequently be found on Mathworld and Wikipedia" to "frequently be found on Mathworld, Wikipedia, and PlanetMath".

Should show whether a problem is open

In the listings of problems such as http://garden.irmacs.sfu.ca/?q=topology should show for each problem whether it is open or closed.
